Description:
The primary purpose of the Systems Analyst position is to provide support to MD Anderson IT Engineering by performing the functions of installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting all aspects of the MD Anderson campus data and voice network infrastructures and services. This includes providing analysis of network and voice systems with department requirements.
Daily Institutional Support
Monitors common and individual work queues. Completes or escalates incidents and service requests in a timely fashion.
Maintain Network Infrastructure
Monitors network performance to identify and address any issues. Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity. Monitors, configures, installs, troubleshoots, and replaces networking equipment (switches, routers, wireless access points, etc.). Follows documented change control procedures to complete all changes. Documents accurately all changes including adjusting monitoring tools and alerts as appropriate. Responds to events such as system reboots and outages
Support Voice and Data Network
Monitors, configures, installs, troubleshoots, and replaces telecommunication equipment (Voice over IP phones, overhead paging and conferencing phones, etc.) to include troubleshooting and resolve network connectivity. Documents accurately all changes including adjusting monitoring tools and alerts as appropriate.
Fiber and Cable Maintenance
Maintains accurate cabling (copper, fiber, and others) records. Maintains accurate network equipment inventory. Follows documented procedures for infrastructure and inventory management. Maintains skills as technology and implementations evolve.

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree.
Certification Required: None
Preferred Certification: One or more of the following: CompTIA A+, Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree. Two years of experience in analysis/design/project management/programming. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
