JOB SUMMARY

Facilities Management’s mission is to provide the Dalhousie community with an inviting, safe and sustainable environment that supports and enhances an inspiring experience in learning, living, working and research. Facilities Management is in the process of implementing AiM, an Integrated Work Management System (IWMS). Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Management IT, the incumbent will be a member of the Facilities Management AiM implementation team and will provide IT JavaScript and SQL programming expertise as well as create new reports and modify existing ones. In addition, the incumbent will assist in the overall support of the IWMS .

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related area with a minimum of five years’ related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Development experience in relations database systems using web technologies, such as Webservices, JavaScript, SQL, JSON, XML.
  • Excellent knowledge of systems development methodologies and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) as well as excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving, and analytical skills, along with ability to work effectively in teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Create AiM reports using software such as COGNOS, Tableau, Bird tool and/or Power BI reporting tool, etc. Develop AiM, Bird reports, ready tiles, Tableau and/or Power BI analytics using various data sources.
  • Using primarily JavaScript and SQL the incumbent will develop/update Automatic Business Processes, Activity Codes and Work flows as well extracting and importing data into the AiM software utilizing Standard Data Connectors.
  • Test updates and changes on AiM. Submit tickets to various vendors to address AiM software and functional use issues.
  • Determine and clarify client needs in relation to their functional specifications. Complex issues may require supervisor input.
  • Learn and support existing structured development methodologies. Assist Facilities Management staff in working within these guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain product training documentation. Ensure documentation is up to date on software configuration parameters and the created or updated solutions.
