Job Introduction
DACBeachcroft is seeking to appoint an experienced and knowledgeable IT Solutions Architect to join our IT Architecture team on a full time, hybrid, permanent basis in our Bristol office.
Reporting into the Head of IT Architecture and Strategy, the main purpose of this role is to play a pivotal role in the formulation and creation of modern, secure, high quality IT solutions in response to business needs, and to work across all DACB functions and our clients, bridging any gaps in the envisioning and design of technology-driven solutions. The post-holder will do this by leading the architecture design effort throughout the planning and project design phases and to own the overall solution design, and by ensuring that all architecture change continues to be peer reviewed and approved by relevant owners/SMEs in order to maintain the integrity and security of our estate

Main Responsibilities

  • Work closely with stakeholders, IT colleagues, and the Business Improvement and Change (BIC) team to help advance the technical requirements for a project, advising on potential solutions.
  • Provide a bridge between various IT teams in agreeing likely delivery approaches and solutions for new business requirements.
  • Work closely with technical delivery teams to ensure that adequate design material is produced and that all requirements for delivery are clear and unambiguous.
  • Ensure designs are peer reviewed and approved in line with IT governance processes.
  • Be responsible for the timely delivery of approved design material to project managers.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, using your knowledge and skills to influence decisions and to ensure best practice and alignment with the IT strategy.
  • Own and maintain the Technical Approach (TAD) and High Level Design (HLD) document templates which support our technology governance and delivery.
  • Assist SMEs in the creation of technical design standards (architecture guidelines) to help enforce best practice.
  • Assist SMEs in the creation of product roadmaps to aid in planning the evolution of the firm’s enterprise architecture over time.
  • Contribute towards DACB’s data protection obligations, such as the production of Data Impact Assessments (DPIAs) relating to technology change and the onboarding of new solutions.
  • Contribute to the assessment and procurement of new IT products and services.
  • Advise on new and emerging technology and trends and their benefits and impacts.
  • Explain designs to technical and non-technical audiences

The Ideal Candidate

KEY EXPERIENCE

  • Significant experience in similar Solutions and/or Technical Architecture roles.
  • A strong and broad technical background in enterprise IT, perhaps coming from an operations/engineering background.
  • Previous success with developing enterprise-level solutions using Cloud technology.
  • A good understanding of technical security controls and best practices, with experience applying them.
  • Previous exposure to data and analytics systems.
  • A background in legal/professional services or large enterprise (desirable)
  • Experience of common legal technologies and platforms (desirable).
  • Relevant qualifications, such as TOGAF and BCS certification (desirable)
  • A relevant IT, or related degree (desirable)
  • Microsoft technology training/certification (desirable)
  • Cloud Architecture training/certification (desirable)
