Job Description
Role: IT Systems Monitoring Analyst ll
Location Remote
The IT Systems Monitoring Analyst II is responsible for supporting the implementation, configuration and ongoing monitoring objectives for monitoring tools and processes encompassing the Infrastructure, Application and User perspectives. Additionally, will address the needs of proactive monitoring and incident avoidance, as well as trending, predictive and contractually required SLAs/KPIs. Will work closely with , Infrastructure Services, Application Development, Helpdesk and Desktop Services to implement and adhere to ITIL/DevOps best practices, ensuring the highest quality system experiences possible for internal and external customers. This position is a key resource that focuses on configuring IT monitoring tools to deliver valuable services to our customers and enable us to successfully execute on contracts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or other related field
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience and/or applicable military experience will be considered
  • 4+ years of experience are required in each of the following areas:
  • Understanding of infrastructure and application monitoring tools
  • Full life-cycle software development experience
  • Infrastructure, or desktop technology or helpdesk or systems support experience
  • Experience providing stable business systems to meet customer/business needs.
  • 4+ years of ITIL or other ITSM related framework or discipline experience
  • Strong understanding of business operations and their related dependencies on IT systems for executing our contracts successfully.
  • An understanding of end to end system dependencies (Infrastructure, System, Data, Telecom, Desktop, Mobile) to the resulting contract outcomes.
  • Must have a strong grasp of the technical fundamentals of software development and be able to work within complicated IT systems to plan projects
  • Must be comfortable making timely suggestions in times of crisis management and escalating alerts appropriately across the organization in an effort to sustain minimal impact to customers
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to present, persuade and provide professional presentation materials to both large and small groups
  • Communications skills
  • Proven analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Software Suite skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL or other ITSM framework certification
  • Experience with monitoring, instrumenting IT Systems, IT event management, alerting, and Synthetic Scripting practices
  • Experience creating systems/performance dashboards
  • DOD/VA/Military Experience
  • DOD/VA/Military Clearances

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Implement and configure infrastructure and application monitoring tools.
  • Work with infrastructure and application teams to ensure performance and availability monitoring is in place.
  • Troubleshoot, proactively identify monitoring solutions and drive resolution of complex system/process problems and issues
  • Coordinate and plan monitoring enhancements and maintenance to keep up with ever changing systems, new contracts and user requirements.
  • Analyze monitoring data/logs/trends and provide strategic recommendations around end to end system improvements from Infrastructure to Systems to Data to Telecom to Desktop to mobile technology, resulting in improved and successful contract outcomes
  • Ensure monitoring and tool education is provided to new employees and refreshed with the existing employee base through involvement in learning plan content creation, facilitation and other training methods as appropriate
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of production monitoring requirements to include Vital Business Functions, thresholds for automated incident creation, automated alerts and notifications
  • Ensure SLA tracking, reporting and communications are in place
  • Document monitoring services and align with the Catalog of Services available to those dependent on the IT services we provide and ensure system documentation is available to help IT teams quickly resolve problems
  • Maintain good working relationships across IT, the businesses and with IT vendors
  • Work as liaison/relationship manager between other monitoring/reporting organizations across divisions, departments and teams we provide IT services in collaboration with.
