DESCRIPTION:

The Technical Support Specialist provides customer support of incidents and requests for service, remotely or in person, pertaining to computer hardware, software, network equipment, wireless equipment, operating systems, and user training. Provides standardized system setup, deployment, and support of hardware, software, and infrastructure as defined within the Information Technology support processes. Independently performs tasks relating to the development, implementation, and maintenance of Information Technology including needs analysis, application development, data conversion, system testing, performance monitoring.
Schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per day

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid California driver’s license required, CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation etc. are preferred. As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
  • Experience: Broad training in computer-related fields and a minimum four (4) years of computer support related experience or training required, preferably in a medical/clinical environment. Knowledge in health care terminology and health care Information Technology preferred.
  • Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Must understand the workings of a personal computer including hardware and software. Must understand the client/server and file/server relationship and its development and function.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to convey information and interact and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally verbally and in writing with all levels of staff, providers, residents, and patients. Must work well in a team environment and perform as a flexible team player to accomplish goals and objectives with various levels of staff and management.
  • Professional attitude in regards to motivation, cooperation, flexibility, confidentiality, ethics and personal development.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboard, printers, and disk drives on user’s workstations. Must understand the client/server and file/server relationship and its development and function.
  • Assists users with password problems regarding their network and clinical applications accounts. Provides on-site/remote support to satellite clinics.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows required, working knowledge of Linux, OS X, Android, Apple iOS is desirable. Working knowledge of TCP/IP. Working knowledge of MPS/Printers and their configuration. Diagnoses system hardware, software and operator problems. Recommends or performs actions to correct problems.
  • Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, spreadsheet programs, mail and Internet access programs and others onto computers and update these as required.
  • Installation of software for assigned projects to meet requirements and specifications. Maintains a working knowledge of infrastructure, hardware, applications and services supported by Information Technology.
  • Reviews progress, issues, and overall status and escalates to project leadership as necessary and appropriate. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, peers and the general public.
  • Must have the ability to consistently work with rotating doctors, residents and interns and have the ability to collaborate, support, and function in a medical/clinical healthcare organization.
