JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent news judgement
- Relevant degree in Communications, New Media, Business, Finance, Journalism or any relevant fields
- Have a sharp news sense with the ability to identify information gaps, edit and produce quality stories under tight deadlines
- A good understanding of content management systems and digital best practices
- Demonstrates ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to produce quality work in a fast-paced environment
- Previous experience of working in a newsroom is a plus

ABOUT THE ROLE
Singapore’s premier business daily, The Business Times, is looking for a talented, driven and digitally-savvy candidate to be part of our dynamic breaking news team that covers market-moving developments across a range of business and financial news topics, cutting across different companies, sectors and geographies.
You will work closely with the Assistant News Editor (Breaking News) to identify critical news developments and trending stories that are relevant to BT’s audience.
Strong writing and analytical skills are prerequisites, while technical skills can be trained and honed. You should also be curious and questioning, have a determined approach to gathering news and mining for information, be able to build trusted relationships and embrace a growth mindset.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cover breaking news stories and events across a wide range of business and financial news topics in a timely and accurate manner
- Write compelling news articles and headlines that engage readers and meet SEO requirements
- Plan ahead and anticipate potential news developments to stay ahead of breaking news stories
- Collaborate with reporters and other members of the editorial team to ensure that all stories are effectively curated, promoted and optimised for different platforms.
