Description:

Our client in Calgary is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their finance team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and willing to dive into various accounting tasks, with a particular focus on reconciliations. This role will involve handling intercompany reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and reconciling AP/AR ledgers. Additionally, the Junior Accountant will be responsible for assisting with month-end procedures and preparing balance sheet working papers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
1+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably with exposure to reconciliations.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures.
Proven track record of taking initiative and implementing process improvements is a plus.

Responsibilities:

Conduct intercompany reconciliations to ensure accurate recording of transactions between different entities within the organization.
Perform bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial transactions and account balances.
Reconcile AP/AR ledgers to ensure that accounts payable and accounts receivable records align with vendor/customer statements and company records.
Assist with the preparation of month-end working papers, including balance sheet reconciliations and other supporting documents.
Collaborate with team members to identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the implementation of solutions.
Demonstrate initiative by proactively seeking opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Support other members of the finance team as needed and contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
Ad-hoc duties as requested.
