Are you currently working as a Band 6 in a pain management service? Would you like the chance to work in one of London’s largest NHS Trusts supported by a nurse led, high profile and ambitious team, helping to contribute toward great change and transformation of our Pain Services as a Band 6 Junior CNS in Pain Management?
This post is suitable for a registered nurse already working at the level of a Band 6 CNS in Pain Management or potentially, a registered nurse with evidence of pain related improvement activity, who works in an acute ward/unit with a strong desire to learn, evidence of self-directed learning related to pain and track record for improving pain management for their patients i.e. Link nurse or Pain Champion experience. We are looking for someone who has the commitment, professionalism and dedication to make a difference to our patients. Working in our well-established acute pain setting you will have to opportunity to develop clinical skills, hold responsibility for your own caseload under the close supervision of an experienced team leader, offer advice with support of the team to medical and surgical teams about pain management and act as an advocate for patients and their carers. You will have a role to help deliver teaching other nursing staff and contribute to the Trust’s nursing strategy, develop guidelines and take part in audit and research projects. You will have the opportunity to work with three major hospitals; Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Mary’s all with a world renowned reputation for education, research and expert clinical care provision.

This role involves the regular internal rotation into our Pain Management Centre based at Charing Cross where you will you will be responsible for supervising Chronic Pain outpatient care delivery including procedural Qutenza, TENS, follow up phone calls and optimising patient experience.

  • All key aspects of the role will be undertaken in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Specialists, Senior Clinical Nurse Specialists and Lead Nurse for the Pain Service.
  • To provide high quality, effective, individualised pain management advice to all patients that is compassionate and caring.
  • To assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate them without supervision
  • To participate in the smooth running of the combined Pain Service at Imperial.
  • To assist in development and continuation of training/education programmes
  • To assist in development and continuation of audit and research projects.
  • To assist in leading and monitoring the performance of the nursing team
