Job Description
Our Junior Developer – Front end, will work on all interactive projects in the agency. You will have the opportunity to showcase your CSS skills, JavaScript, HTML and Node.js across various projects, working as part of a tight knit team.
Department/Team Overview: Powered is responsible for the commercialisation of Nine’s content cross platform and creating and delivering partnerships for brands. Within Powered we have the following business units: Strategy, Insights + Effectiveness, Content Partnerships, Content Strategy + Distribution, Commercial Production, Client Experience.
Studio: The Studio is our commercial studio with disciplines across ideation, design, creative technology, written and video content production and distribution and amplification.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a consistent focus on quality for the entire project
  • Seek improvements to current systems, work practices and processes
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure team to manage deployments adhering to operational best practices

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Foundational knowledge of modern client-side technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript ES6+ to create pixel perfect websites.
  • Good understanding of responsive web design: mobile-first and desktop-first strategies, flexbox, grid, responsive media queries and typography etc.
  • Experience with CSS preprocessors such as SASS, LESS, Tailwind, Styled Components, Emotion
  • Experience with Design Tools like Adobe XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Exposure to Animation/3D libraries like THREEJS, Anime.js or GSAP. If not, basic ability to write animation keyframes will suffice.
  • Introductory understanding of cross browser support and performance best practices e.g. image optimisation, code bundling etc.
  • Understanding debugging using the browser dev-tools.
  • Experience working with JavaScript module bundlers like Vite, Webpack as well as with dependency managers like NPM or Bower.
  • Solid understanding of Git with Github/Bitbucket.
  • Working knowledge of React/Next.js and ability to write basic function components.
  • Exposure to TypeScript is a nice to have but we are willing to teach the successful candidate.
  • Ability to demonstrate consistent extracurricular learning e.g. active Github, freelance work, learning projects etc.
