Description:

This positions primary responsibility is to assist with the maintenance of all conveyor and building related systems in order to support the goals of the DC. Gaining a thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical and control systems associated with the conveyor is required to maintain maximum system uptime/availability. The job scope includes recommending CI (Continuous Improvement) changes, executing preventative maintenance programs and repairs to material handling equipment and powered industrial equipment.

  • Provide support to the on-shift engineer when complex issues arise.
  • Assist with any infrastructure upgrades along with modifications/repairs to DC assets.
  • Aid with faultfinding and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control system components of the conveyor system, including but not limited to:

    PLCs
    AC & DC drives
    AC invertors
    Encoders
    Scanners
    Power distribution
    Communication systems (AS-Interface & Profibus)

Waste compactors/balers

  • Ability to work safely and independently.
  • Work with contractors, service providers and other maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to operate all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center.
  • Perform work requests as assigned.
  • Easily adjusts to changes in priorities, and flexible to respond to on-call emergencies.
  • Works in cross-functional teams and work groups to identify and resolve problems by proposing unique and innovative solutions.
  • Keeps team lead, and fellow engineers informed of on-shift issues, updates on assignments, repair functions and PPM schedules.
  • Must be available for 24-hour on shift rotation (Mornings, Afternoons & Nights)
  • Performs audits and quality checks on PIE, conveyor systems and building assets.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATIONAL AND/OR TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATES

  • GCSE/O level qualifications in English and Maths
  • A recognised apprenticeship or qualification in an engineering discipline

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

  • A background of working on automated conveyor systems - Preferable
  • Good communication skills
  • Organised and able to carry out administration tasks
