Our Critical Care team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust have a new post opening and available to you to apply. Join our surgical critical care team and gain exposure in surgical critical care, perioperative medicine, and general intensive care at a busy teaching hospital as a Junior Fellow.
We are looking for enthusiastic applicants with anaesthetic, surgical, medical, or emergency medicine backgrounds. But no previous experience in critical care required. The posts are for 6 months initially, extendable to 1 year.
The post will provide experience in a busy surgical high dependency unit and exposure to general multi-disciplinary intensive care. Exposure to a perioperative medicine and prehabilitation service is also available.

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The post will provide training and experience in all aspects of post-operative critical care in a large multidisciplinary unit admitting approximately 1500 patients per year. You will primarily be responsible for the management of post operative surgical patients in the surgical critical care unit but will also have shifts in the general intensive care unit allowing exposure to general intensive care, trauma, and surgical intensive care. You will also have exposure to perioperative medicine, cardiopulmonary exercise testing for risk stratification, shared decision-making high-risk clinics and a prehabilitation service. There are opportunities for research projects with the well-known perioperative critical care research group and for quality improvement projects.
