Junior Lecturer: Department of Earth Sciences (nGAP)

Duties/Pligte

• Actively researching and publishing in at least one of the Department’s research areas;
• Contributing to the Department’s ties with academic and industry partners;
• Contributing to the supervision of postgraduate students, including planning of field work;
• Teaching undergraduate modules in earth sciences;
• Teach postgraduate modules in at least one of the department’s research areas.

• Contributing to administrative and departmental tasks as required.

Doen aktief navorsing en publiseer in minstens een van die Departement se navorsingsgebiede;

• Dra by tot die Departement se bande met akademiese en bedryfsvennote;
• Lewer ’n bydrae met die studieleiding aan nagraadse studente, insluitend beplanning van veldwerk;
• Onderrig voorgraadse modules in aardwetenskappe;
• Onderrig nagraadse modules in minstens een van die Departement se navorsingsgebiede;
• Dra by tot administratiewe en departementele take soos benodig.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

• MSc in earth sciences or a related discipline;
• Evidence of aptitude for research in at least one of the Department’s abovementioned research areas;
• A good academic record in own undergraduate and postgraduate studies;
• Experience as a tutor or teaching assistant for an undergraduate module;

• Good communication skills in English.

MSc in aardwetenskappe of ’n verwante dissipline;

• Bewys van aanleg vir navorsing in minstens een van die Departement se bogenoemde navorsingsgebiede;
• ’n Goeie akademiese rekord van eie voor- en nagraadse studie;
• Ervaring as ’n tutor of onderwysassistent in ’n voorgraadse module;
• Goeie kommunikasievaardighede in Engels.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

• PhD in progress, focusing on one of the research areas of the Department;

• Teaching experience in an undergraduate module in earth sciences.

Besig met PhD-studie wat fokus op een van die Departement se navorsingsgebiede;

• Onderrigervaring van ’n voorgraadse module in aardwetenskappe.
