TECHNICAL/INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent and highly efficient AutoCAD and SolidWorks skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry Code and Standards, such as ASME Section VIII, Div.1, ASME Section II, Section IX, TEMA, API Standards, ASME B31.3, ASME/ANSI Flange and Fitting Standards, NACE Standards, etc.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process such as welding process, machining process, assembling process of pressure vessel, heat exchanger, and piping system would be an asset.
  • Self motivated, detail-oriented, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and cooperative team player.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE:

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Mechanical Designer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. The Junior Mechanical Designer is a full-time position based in our Fabrication Facility in Pickering, ON.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Junior Mechanical Designer is responsible to prepare the complete fabrication drawings of Pressure Vessel, Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger, Process Towers, Piping, as well as specialty equipment. Ensure the fabrication drawings are following the mechanical design requirement in accordance with ASME Code Section VIII, Div. 1, Design specifications and contracts; ensure assigned tasks are completed within specified timeline; and produce engineering documentation in accordance with internal procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Correctly interpret ASME Code Section VIII, Div. 1 & customer’s data sheets, reference drawing and specifications.
  • Review contract/specification to establish product requirements.
  • Review and understand mechanical design calculations of all products fabricated in the shop floor, such as Pressure vessel, Towers, Shell & Tube Heat exchangers, Piping system, specialty items etc. in accordance with ASME Code and mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Complete the fabrication drawing per mechanical design calculation, Chemetics drawing format, as well as general engineering drafting knowledge to present the drawings clearly to fabrication shop without mistakes/error.
  • Prepare &/or review fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks for all products fabricated in the shop.
  • Correctly design welding detail and apply the welding procedures to each welding detail based on the material type and application condition.
  • Prepare &/or review Bill of Material in accordance with design calculation & fabrication drawings, specify correct material specification in accordance with customer requirement and ASME Code.
  • Interface with all internal departments to produce high quality drawings and bill of materials for shop floor.
