Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Junior Optical Network Field Engineer to join our team in Singapore. The Junior Optical Network Field Engineer will work closely with senior engineers to assist in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of optical network equipment and infrastructure in the field. Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior engineers in installing, configuring, and commissioning optical network equipment, including switches, multiplexers, amplifiers, and transceivers.
  • Support in conducting site surveys to assess optical network requirements, evaluate existing infrastructure, and identify potential challenges.
  • Learn and assist in performing fiber optic cable installations, terminations, and splicing in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Aid in conducting optical power measurements, loss testing, and optical spectrum analysis to ensure network performance and reliability.
  • Assist in troubleshooting optical network issues, under the guidance of senior engineers, to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, internal teams, vendors, and clients to resolve technical issues, address customer concerns, and deliver exceptional service.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of all installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities, including network diagrams, test reports, and equipment inventories.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while assisting in working with optical equipment and handling fiber optic cables to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in training programs and self-study to enhance knowledge and skills in optical networking technologies and best practices.

Requirements:

  • ITE or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of optical networking principles, standards, and technologies.
  • Strong interest in learning and developing skills in optical networking.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards learning and contributing to the team.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work in the field and travel to various client sites across Singapore as required.
  • Basic knowledge of fiber optic cable installation, termination, splicing, and testing techniques is a plus.
  • Relevant internships, coursework, or certifications related to optical networking are advantageous.
