OVERVIEW

The Integrated Micro and Nanotechnologies RG is dedicated to develop applied research on polymeric and silicon-based micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), inkjet-printed sensors, gas and passive sensors, micro-opto-electromechanical systems (MOEMS), diffractive optics, and microlenses. We are looking for a qualified Junior Research Fellow to join our team in developing print sensors for application in electronics, healthcare and food sensing for the project A5.1. I&S Solutions for food packaging, under the PRR framework, and the VIAFOOD agenda.
Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

  • Optimise the electrohydrodynamic (EHD) printer;
  • Characterise printed devices to understand electrical, mechanical and material behaviours;
  • Develop nanomaterials (e.g., nanowires);
  • Conduct gas sensors related experiments in an laboratory environment;
  • Write project reports.

Mandatory Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • MSc in Materials, Nanotechnology, Electronics, Instrumentation, Physics or other related fields.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Familiar with computer programming languages (e.g., C, Python);
  • Nanomaterial synthesis and characterisation;
  • Electronic instrumentation understanding and control.

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • “Hands-on” approach together with a high commitment in respecting working deadlines;
  • Problem Solving ability;
  • Customer orientation;
  • Ability to work independently and as team player;
  • Good communication skills.
