Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Band 6 Junior Sister to the Chemotherapy Unit. The post holders will be based within the Chemotherapy Unit will be instrumental in the continuing development of the SACT service.
We are looking for experienced Chemotherapy Nurses for this full-time position. Job share and flexible working will be considered. Applicants should have at least three years post registration experience and will need to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and skills in the speciality. They will have at least one years’ experience working in the field of cancer and/or haematology and will have experience with chemotherapy administration and care.
To provide care to a group of patients in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct and Trust policies and procedures.
Work with the Lead Cancer Nurse and her team and the Unit Sister to provide leadership to a developing nursing team.
To contribute to the operational management of the chemotherapy service.
To provide high standards of evidence-based patient centred care.
To assist in leading the nursing team to maintain an efficient chemotherapy service.
Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without supervision.
To assist with the implementation and development of chemotherapy outreach services in West Dorset.
The Chemotherapy service is led by a Senior Sister who is supported by her deputy. We work closely with the Systemic Anti- Cancer Treatment Clinical Nurse Specialist and her community team to develop an extended service. The oncology and haematology service consists of specialist Clinical Nurse Specialist who work closely with the Consultants and the Chemotherapy Nurses.
