POSITION OVERVIEW

The job of an Academic-Intervention Interventionist is done for the purpose of assisting in school leadership; assisting in evaluating, planning, implementing, and monitoring of the School Improvement Plan; acting as a Collaborative Team Meeting (CTM) lead through the orientation of new members, planning, organizing, facilitating, and collecting evidence of PLC work related to the four PLC questions, and acting as a liaison between the CTM and the school administration.
The major responsibility of CTM leadership is to lead effective Professional Learning Community teams that are responsible for ensuring that all students at their grade level and site are mastering the essential curriculum and that students are being appropriately challenged. These teams make informed decisions about curriculum and instruction based on research and the analysis of student work.

The Academic-Intervention Interventionist will support the district’s mission and vision and role model the behaviors by:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education, Licensure, or Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education.
  • Holds a valid teacher or administrator certification in the state of Nevada.
  • Strong understanding of the star rating and performance management system for Nevada.
  • RTI/MTSS Framework knowledge and practice

Work Experience or Related Experience

  • Preferred three or more years teaching experience in a variety of grade levels.
  • Preferred experience with educational data analysis

  • Subject matter expertise within the educational community on professional learning communities and intervention.
  • Demonstrated program development and implementation skills.
  • The planning of the work of others and the coordination of work with other departments or external agencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations.
  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop staff.
  • The ability to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner showing conscientiousness about assignments (leads by example).
  • The ability to build consensus that permeates the entire staff through the development and implementation of a professional learning community.
  • Knowledgeable of effective PLC processes.
  • Ability to focus and keep a team focused on the PLC goals and process.
  • Consensus building skills.
  • Ability to redirect conversations that may stray from the focus.
  • Ability to analyze student work and data.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to PLCs and School Improvement.

PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Travel between campuses is required from time to time.
  • This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping, and long periods of concentration.
  • Local and in-state travel required.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists in the preparation of the School Improvement Plan, and the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the plan.
  • Facilitate a CTM to include the maintenance of agendas, notes, learnings, data, etc.
  • Engage as the liaison between the school administration and the CTM group.
  • Prepare briefings for the school administration as related to the work of the PLC.
  • Ensuring the CTM maintains its focus on the four PLC questions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), data related to the SIP, and data related to the CTM in which the staff member is leading.
  • Effectively lead their CTM
  • Effectively represent their CTM’s at the leadership meetings
  • Focus on ensuring competence and growth for all students.
  • Work with Teacher Leaders and Administration to set mission, goals and processes.
  • CTM Facilitators will maintain documents related to each of their scheduled meetings to include:
  • The CTM norms
  • Meeting Agenda for each specific meeting
  • Meeting minutes showing covered topics
  • Evidence of work of the CTM
  • Sign-in sheet – signatures from each attendee
