An exciting opportunity has arisen within our team for a Kaiārahi Pūtaiao, to join us in advancing the recruitment, retention, and achievement of Māori students within the Division of Sciences.
This is a rewarding and challenging role, where your knowledge and experience in te reo Māori and ngā tikanga Māori will be instrumental in effectively engaging with Māori students and our outreach team.

Successful candidates will:
- Hold a tertiary qualification.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the tertiary sector and approaches to Māori student achievement within the tertiary sector.

- Be committed to the advancement of Māori students, whānau, hapū and iwi.
Responsibilities:
As the Kaiārahi Pūtaiao, you will be the first point of contact for Māori Students within the Division of Sciences.
You will lead support activities including student hui, skills workshops for students, te reo Māori me ngā tikanga Māori workshops, departmental Kaiāwhina hui, wānanga and other activities as required including the science wānanga outreach programme.
Your main responsibility will be identifying the support needs of Māori Students in Sciences degrees and professional programmes and delivering services in response to these needs. As well as developing and maintaining strong and effective relationships with Sciences departmental Kaiāwhina, Te Huka Mātauraka. (The Māori Centre), divisional Kaiārahi and Kaiāwhina and other relevant University and Science Division staff.
