Description:
Hoani Waititi Marae is seeking a dynamic and experienced Relationship Manager to join our team. As the Kai-Tuhono, you will be instrumental in maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, understanding and sharing the views, interests, ambitions and challenges of maori mataawaka and maori organisations to help improve outcomes in the Waitakere community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the delivery of the West local board outcomes.
- Capacity building to enable greater access for participation in and representation of Maori mataawaka and Maori organisations in local board areas.
- Establishing and building whanaungatanga with and between Maori mataawaka and Maori organisations.
- Engagement with the Advisory Forum on new projects/priorities of importance to Maori to seek feedback before taking these to local boards for consideration.
- Develop plans for utilising a Maori values approach to encourage and empower Maori citizens in the area of local government civics.
- Inform and influence the development of the three-yearly local board plans by providing advice and reporting on community priorities.
- Develop a Maori engagement framework/action plan detailing the various engagement activities.
Position Specifications:
- Proficiency in Te Reo Maori and Tikanga Maori is essential.
- Tertiary qualification or minimum experience in a relevant discipline.
- Confident communicator and presenter in Te Reo Maori and English.
- Strong understanding of Maori culture, values, and traditions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of relationship management and network building.
- Proficiency in time management and identifying resources needed to accomplish tasks.
- Good understanding of the Auckland Council landscape would be advantageous.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, demonstrating adaptability and resilience.
