Description:
Help drive sustainability within the Marine Industry
As Key Account Manager for the Marine Team, you’ll be tasked with partnering with a portfolio of marine key accounts based in the West Coast of Norway using a strong set of skills and market insights to grow Hempel’s market share and marine business.

Hempel is currently the market leader for marine hull coatings solutions, driving sustainability in the shipping industry. But we have high ambitions and we want to continue our growth journey to sustain our leadership position in the marine coatings industry. You can help us achieve that goal by growing our market share, building relationships and assisting our customers so they can improve their fleet and business operations while minimizing their environmental footprint.
You will become a trusted adviser on our products and services to your assigned customer portfolio. The role will also demand internal collaboration with other key functions to strengthen your knowledge and use all tools available in Hempel to provide tailored solutions to your customers. Building invaluable relationships with customers, you’ll be their go to person to help effectively serve their business needs.
Make a difference to individuals and our organization
As part of this role you will actively be involved in customer research, pursuing sales leads, visiting existing and new customers. You will be assessing the needs of customers and suggesting appropriate products and services. You will respond to complex customer enquiries, negotiate deals within limits of authority, and conclude sales orders to meet revenue goals.

- Developing long-term sales plans, monitoring the market and adapting sales activities to each customer’s needs so objectives are met
- Prioritizing and scheduling own activities to create a strong customer network
- Positioning Hempel as the leader in sustainability solutions within the marine coatings industry

We’re looking for a proven communicator with high people skills
Being highly organised and able to plan effectively and efficiently whilst having self-motivation are a necessity. Customers are at the heart of what we do and understanding customer needs and how Hempel can fulfil them by having a talent for people and personal relationships are key to this role. You will be able to demonstrate where you have achieved targets whilst developing profitable sales in a field-based role. The role will entail working with many colleagues around the world and across various multifunctional teams.
What does it take to join our Hempel family?
- University degree (business or technical)
- Experience within sales and/or business development
- Experience within the Marine industry would be an advantage
- Sales and relationship building skills
- Excellent negotiation, public speaking and presentation skills
- An organised, independent, and proactive approach
- Good knowledge of Digital tools such as Power BI, CRM, Microsoft Office Package
- Fluency in English and Norwegian (alternatively, fluency in Swedish or Danish is also acceptable).
- Valid driving license required
Location
Based in Bergen (alternatively home-based) with frequent traveling along the west coast.
