Harrison Elementary
Harrison Elementary is a K-5 school with a STEAM focus that is located in Harrison, TN, just outside of Chattanooga. At Harrison Elementary, everyone is a leader and a learner. We have a team approach to problem solving, a drive for collective efficacy and one dynamic vision. We provide STEAM learning opportunities that develop strategic reasoning and encourage students to be members of their community.
We are looking for teachers who are curious, hardworking, and who put students first. Teachers must be risk-takers and be excited to collaborate with peers and community partners. We provide loads of new support for new teachers as well as growing teachers.

Teaching candidates must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in Elementary Education (K-5) or be upcoming graduates in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must

  • for a Tennessee teaching license.
  • Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and assess effective instruction that is tightly aligned with State standards.
  • Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals aligned with State standards and/or unit outcomes. Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Conveys high expectations while using multiple effective strategies, materials, and classroom practices that involve and motivate students while differentiating instruction to meet students’ needs.
  • Uses colleagues and own self-reflection on instructional practice to continually improve instruction.
  • Classroom Management & Relationships: Fosters a well-structured and engaging learning environment by utilizing effective classroom procedures and routines while showing caring, respect, and fairness for all students.
  • Family & Community: Consistently develops strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children. Provides opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.
  • Professional Responsibilities: Actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders in order to improve teaching & learning. Reflects on own instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.
    Qualifications

We are seeking teaching candidates who are:

  • Committed to inspiring and engaging students
  • Committed to high academic achievement and high expectations for all students
  • Able to be a positive team-player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families
  • Open to being coached and receiving feedback in order to advance learning and growth for students
  • Experienced in high-need or Title-I School settings. Experience with English Language Learners is a plus.
  • Professionals with high personal standards and integrity

Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation. The Differentiated Compensation Plan applies to designated schools and hard-to-staff positions.
