Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a senior officer within the Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) team, you’ll lead on a wide range of activities to ensure there is robust information governance in place across the organisation.
This is a dynamic and flexible role within a supportive team which oversees a varied and interesting portfolio of KIM activities.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • providing expert KIM advice to all OfS business areas;
  • delivering reports, papers and briefings to senior management on KIM-related activities;
  • ensuring the creation and adoption of robust KIM practices throughout the OfS; and
  • line management of team members.

You will be expected to work flexibly across the full breadth of the team’s activities, with the opportunity to lead on the provision of advice and policies in relation to one or more areas of KIM, including:

  • ensuring that information is managed in compliance with all relevant information governance legislation, including complying with information rights requests under the Freedom of Information Act and data protection legislation;
  • ensuring that the OfS’s records are managed in accordance with legislation and best practice, including the application of appropriate retentions, disposal of documents, and the transfer of records to The National Archives;
  • managing core data protection and information assurance activities, including ensuring a culture of data protection compliance throughout the organisation;
  • improving the management of knowledge across the organisation, including sharing best practice.

The key person attributes to fulfil this role are:

  • substantial experience of working within a KIM or information rights role and suitably qualifiedg. Practitioner’s Certificate;
  • ability to provide pragmatic, risk-based advice on compliance with legal obligations, as well an appreciation of the wider implications of KIM-related policies/decisions on the organisation’s strategic objectives;
  • strong communication skills, including ability to communicate specialist knowledge clearly to non-specialists; and
  • creates new and imaginative approaches to work-related issues
