Position Title: Knowledge Broker
Status: Temporary Part-Time (0.6 FTE)
Start Date: July 2024 (one-year contract)

Program: Autism Research Center
Autism Research Centre is looking for a Knowledge Broker to join the POND Network team. The Province of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Disorders (POND) Network is a large research initiative carrying out biomedical studies aimed at improving long-term outcomes of children with ASD, ADHD, OCD and ID. The primary role of the Knowledge Broker will be to support knowledge dissemination and patient engagement activities. Examples of this kind of work include managing website content and social media channels, helping to organize an annual Parent Information Day, creating lay-friendly and actionable resources to raise awareness and promote study findings as well as building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders to foster new opportunities for meaningful patient engagement across the network. This is temporary part-time (.5 to .6 FTE) 12-month contract with opportunities for renewal based on funding availability and performance.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • MA/MSc in Health Sciences, Social Sciences, Health/Research communications, Health Policy or a field related to pediatric rehabilitation required
  • Prior experience of engaging with patient populations
  • Possess an excellent understanding of all aspects knowledge exchange (generation, synthesis, product development, dissemination, exchange, evaluation); certificate training and/or demonstrated experience in knowledge translation is an asset
  • Knowledge of neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is an asset
  • Experience in designing, organizing, facilitating and evaluating knowledge exchange events such as stakeholder meetings, webinars, community forums and other engagement activities
  • Experience building strong relationships with stakeholders and maintaining them over time
  • Experience developing creative knowledge products such as infographics, newsletters, fact-sheets, lay summaries, presentations and/or video stories
  • Website management and/or building experience
  • Experience managing web content and social media accounts
  • Ability to interpret and identify key results from evidence and succinctly summarize findings in plain language
  • Ability to adapt to changes in project direction and pitch in when extra support is needed

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute and evaluate knowledge dissemination and exchange plans using a range of methods
  • Manage the POND Network website content and social media presence
  • Facilitate the design, development and execution of stakeholder engagement events including annual parent information day, meetings, and other public-facing activities
  • Develop content and knowledge products with stakeholder input to support information sharing (e.g., research lay summaries, newsletters, fact-sheets, infographics)
  • Foster stakeholder engagement and positive working relationships with Network members and partners, including enhanced opportunities for the Patient Advisory Committee (PAC)
  • Assist Network members with knowledge dissemination activities, as needed
  • Stay abreast of best practices in knowledge exchange and patient engagement to inform activities
