Description:

KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT OFFICER - LAW - LONDON

An opportunity for a Knowledge Management Officer has arisen within an extremely reputable London based international law firm. This role sits within the legal technology practice of the firm and plays a key role in the support of the firms intranet and collaboration capabilities, know-how and precedent databases, and enterprise and legal search engines. It is also a vital component in driving engagement with driving the firm’s culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assist in the creation of intranet pages and team sites on the enterprise collaboration portal
  • Partnering with the intranet’s content editors on a day-to-day basis to ensure consistency in posting, editing and
  • tagging
  • Supporting KM projects, including trialling proposed new systems/features and providing feedback and recommendations
  • Maintenance and review of the firm’s legal taxonomies to facilitate automated processes and classification of legal content
  • Building relationships with the partners, knowledge lawyers and staff, and providing regular updates on central KM team
  • activities and projects
  • Provide a central point of contact for knowledge lawyers and to optimise use of the firm’s knowledge systems
  • Forging strong working relationships with knowledge lawyers to answer day to day queries relating to adding know how to the firm’s know how database and optimising how content is provisioned via the legal search engine
  • Delivering training to new joiners and established staff on KM systems use/best practice, and the provision of user guides and training materials
  • Working closely with IT to coordinate the testing and maintenance of the firm’s knowledge systems
  • Production of statistical usage reports and analysis of the firm’s knowledge systems
  • Building continued momentum in the visibility, use and effectiveness of the system’s tools across legal practice areas

TO BE SUITABLE FOR THIS ROLE, CANDIDATES WILL NEED A MIX OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Previous experience in a knowledge management or information services role in a legal, corporate or professional service environment;
  • Demonstrable experience working with knowledge systems and/or digital content management systems
  • Highly organised, methodical and process driven approach to work
  • An aptitude for using and learning new technology or systems
  • Highly developed communication and relationship building skills
  • The ability to manage small or medium sized projects
  • A critical thinker that enjoys the challenge of problem solving
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to be both a team player and to work in an environment with a high degree of autonomy
  • Relevant qualifications (particularly an MLIS) would be a distinct advantage, but is not essential
