The Nelson research group (https://research.fredhutch.org/peternelson/en.html) at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center has an opening for a Lab Aide interested in prostate cancer research and biomarker development.
Our research team is seeking an outstanding Lab Aide to perform routine work in a research laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare media and reagents, such as stock solutions;
  • Rinse and prepare glassware for cleaning;
  • Maintain clean and orderly laboratory area;
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment;
  • Check and replenish supplies;
  • Assist with experiments and set-up;
  • Perform clerical duties as required;
  • Cell culture and maintenance of laboratory cell lines and organoids;
  • Nucleic acid extraction and purification;
  • Processing biospecimens for immunohistochemistry and related assays;
  • Assisting with assays of cancer therapeutics.

Qualifications:

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University/College degree in a scientific discipline such as biology, biochemistry, physics, engineering or related field.
  • Familiarity with cell/tissue culture methods and techniques;
  • Familiarity with DNA and RNA extractions.
  • Experience in a biomedical research laboratory.
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques including cell culture, nucleic acid purification, RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, immunohistochemistry, protein purification, immunoblotting.
  • Training in biostatistics is an asset.

    The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.00 to $25.45, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
