As a Lab Manager you will lead a team of 6 analysts.
You will oversee the in process testing, lab operations.

A Typical Day in this role will include;

  • Manage laboratory personnel and operations within approved budget.
  • Ensure that all testing and operational procedures and practices comply with current regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
  • Liaise with AS&T group to achieve efficient and effective validations for the laboratory.
  • Liaise with AS&T group on the implementation of Microbiology and Chemistry laboratory test methodologies to support product, environment and utility testing.
  • Adopt new products to the site into the laboratory testing schedule through change control and validations in accordance with applicable regulations. Interpret analytical results and work with AS&T to resolve technical and/or operational problems; and provide technical advice and support to other departments within the facility.
  • Keep up to date with technical and regulatory trends and ensure laboratory operations reflect same and are maintained in validated state.
  • Utilise LEAN methodologies to achieve improved efficiencies in the laboratory.
  • Ensure Analysts in the Lab are cross trained across Chemistry and Microbiology.
  • Support the implementation of projects with AS&T to be on time, within budget and to meet regulations and business requirements.
  • Adhere to inhouse Health and Safety requirements.
  • Ensure continual Quality System compliance by adherence to regulations and Alcon and Novartis QS requirements.
  • Ensure BC Templates are completed for all critical areas of department. Participates in BC Plan exercises and responsible for the implementation of the action of the Risk Portfolio / MTO Goals.
  • Participates in the Quarterly BCM meeting.
  • Participate in the annual Lab budget preparation and monitor budget expenditure.
