Description:

We are seeking a laboratory technician to provide support for many aspects of the daily operation of a health psychology lab. The laboratory research technician will work as part of a team comprised of graduate students and undergraduate research assistants and will perform general laboratory maintenance and coordination tasks. The research technician will also support the research efforts of the laboratory by providing technical assistance related to document preparation, scheduling, meeting deadlines, and email. Typical responsibilities of the technician will include ordering, maintenance, and organization of laboratory supplies and equipment, drafting documents, coordinating tasks of other lab members, and communicating regularly via meetings and email. Other tasks will be commensurate with the experience and interests of the technician. The position requires a high degree of organization, meticulous work practices, and a demonstrated interest in health psychology research.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform daily tasks in a highly organized fashion.

  • Ability to work with other lab members on a daily basis.

  • Ability to effectively communicate (both written and verbally).
  • Must pay rigorous attention to detail.
  • Desire to acquire new skills and competencies in a dynamic research atmosphere.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and interest in health psychology.

  • Experience working with email and document preparation.

  • Ability to work well as a part of a fast-moving team.
