Overview of the role:
You’ll discover a stimulating atmosphere that fosters your professional growth in a clean and safe environment. As a Laboratory Technician you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of product by testing raw materials, finished product and equipment.
Schedule: work flexibility is required for this role; Tuesday – Saturday 2:00pm – 10:30pm; shifts will vary as this position will cover other team members
Salary: $28.55

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Collect and perform microbiological and organoleptic analysis on various incoming ingredients and finished dairy products.
  • Prepare a variety of microbiological media and chemical solutions required for use in the lab.
  • Collect and analyze various environmental samples taken throughout the plant.
  • Analyze ingredient and finished product samples for various chemical and microbiological components. Assist in the proper maintenance of equipment used for this duty.
  • Investigate customer & consumer complaints.
  • Record Data of analysis Electronically using Microsoft Excel
  • Communicate results to Quality Control Supervisor and provide troubleshooting evaluation and assistance to Production and Maintenance.
  • Initiate and enforce hold orders on finished product.
  • Ensure that all work is performed safely while following OH&S, WCB, and Company regulations and procedures.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related subject. (Related Degree an asset)
  • Experience in a Microbiological Laboratory is an asset
  • Training in the application of microbiology sanitation is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a plant environment and ability to work shift work.
  • Proficiency and dependability in current position.
  • Interest in Quality Control and dairy systems
