QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess minimum Diploma in Chemistry or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in food testing laboratories.
  • Good chemistry knowledge, good instrument skills, e.g. HPLC, GC
  • Possess work experience in similar or within an accreditation/ certification industry will be an advantage

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a variety of Chemistry testing and ensure that all incoming samples are tested and completed on time using the appropriate sampling procedures, test methods and other good laboratory practices along with the proper reporting and maintenance of records.
  • Maintain a proper understanding of Chemistry techniques and test methods.
  • Operate, maintain and trouble-shoot laboratory equipment.
  • To actively engage the supervisor/team leader of all “out-of-spec” results, analytical issues or any other problems encountered.
  • To uphold the scientific integrity and professional reputation of both themselves and that of the laboratory and exercise professional judgement and seek advice from the senior staff in difficult issues.
  • To ensure all quality control procedures are in place along with identifying and reporting any quality issues.
  • To ensure that all laboratory corrective actions are carried out and completed in time with root causes identified and to follow the appropriate preventative measures implemented by the supervisor or team leader.
  • To report all customer complaints/concerns to the team leader or the laboratory manager followed by the appropriate course of action as instructed.
  • Participate and contribute to health and safety continuous improvement initiatives. Report all incidents, including near misses, whether or not these incidents involve actual consequences, ensure safe work practices are followed, and proactively promote safe behaviour and injury prevention. Participate in training and working safely including the proper use of safety equipment. Ensure safety at work is top priority.
