We currently have an opportunity for a Lab Technician to join our team at our newly constructed, state of the art, Richardson Innovation Centre, located in downtown Winnipeg, MB.
Under the Supervision of our Lab and Analytics Team Lead, the successful candidate will join a team of Quality Assurance and Food Safety professionals, serving our grain handling, export and food processing businesses.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma/Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry;
Laboratory experience in a dynamic and modern laboratory environment;
Experience managing, interpretating, storing, retrieving, analyzing, and reporting on laboratory data derived from sample test results;
Able to make relevant science-based decisions and recommendations from laboratory data;
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
Previous experience working in a dynamic grain and/or food processing analytical environment.

Responsibilities:
Prepare and test grain, food ingredients and finished food products to verify composition and measure quality and food safety related attributes;
Prepare and test samples (environmental swabs, grains, food ingredients and finished food products) for microbiological and allergen risks;
Report analytical test results, by retrieving data from Laboratory Data Management Systems and prepare Scientific/Statistical Reports to be applied to risk based decision making;
Calibrate and verify the accuracy of laboratory equipment;
Collaborate with senior scientists on the team to build and modernize calibration/algorithms;
Prepare samples for shipment to customers;
Actively contributing to the execution and achievement of Corporate Quality Assurance and Food Safety Objectives and Continuous Improvement Initiatives within the department;
Develop and facilitating personnel Training and Development Programs as required.
