QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Comprehensive second level education
  • Computer Skills

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • High level of proficiency using English language both verbal and written
  • Excellent team player
  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and experience in liaising with staff at all levels within the hospital
  • Ability to use initiative.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience and ability in using computer-based systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience and ability in using Laboratory Information Systems
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital / healthcare setting

KNOWLEDGE & UNDERSTANDING:

  • Excellent understanding of GDPR and Patient Confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of and experience in using Medical Terminology

Responsibilities:

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE

We will provide exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring and compassion are at the centre of all we do.
To assist in routine processing and co-ordinating the Laboratory service in accordance with the mission, values, vision and strategic plan of the Hospital.
This role will require the ability to work across the main laboratory disciplines, under the direction of Senior Administrator and the Laboratory Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

  • Registration of patient information onto the Hospital Computer System.
  • Providing administrative support for Pathology Laboratory, including typing and printing of reports, minutes etc as required.
  • Ensuring that telephone and email queries are answered promptly and where necessary are referred to the appropriate area.
  • Ensuring that information is released to authorised individuals. (Pathology reports are not communicated directly to patients by administrative staff.)
  • To assist in the implementation of a quality management programme that is patient centred and which measures and audits performance and client satisfaction.
