Laboratory Quality Technician
Fugro Middle East has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Laboratory Quality Technician.
The job purpose of a quality technician involves ensuring that products meet established quality standards and specifications through meticulous inspection, testing, and documentation. They are responsible for monitoring and evaluating production processes, identifying deviations or defects, and implementing corrective actions to maintain testing quality. Quality technicians also collaborate with other departments to resolve quality-related issues, conduct root cause analyses, and implement preventive measures to continuously improve quality standards. Their role is essential in maintaining customer satisfaction, ensuring regulatory compliance, and upholding the reputation and integrity of the laboratory testing.

Job responsibilities:

  • Maintain, monitor and apply procedures for accredited tasks, maintain IMS documents, define and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform internal calibrations, write calibration methods, train and supervise personnel in calibrations and update calibration records.
  • Monitor audit schedule, perfume internal audits.
  • Quality control of test results: data entry of quality control testing, organizing inter-and intra-laboratory comparisons, analyze results.
  • Ensure laboratory maintains accreditation and technical requirements in line with Fugro procedures and external accreditations.
  • Conduct on-the-job training of Technicians on different methods of chemical testing, as required from time to time; supervise and coach them to ensure their learning is complete.
  • Provide on- the- job supervision and advice to Technicians when instructed by Laboratory Manager.
  • Escalate unusual findings or difficulty in testing new or varied material or problems that cannot be solved at own level, to superiors well in time.
  • Attend training sessions on Standard Testing procedures, Quality and be updated and familiar with the Quality Manual.
  • Carry out other laboratory/testing/reporting duties as instructed by the Laboratory Manager.

You bring (qualifications & experience)

  • Bachelor of Engineering or mathematical discipline or equivalent.
  • 3-8 years of experience.
  • Experience in ISO17025 laboratory quality management systems.
  • Experience in equipment calibration and validation.
  • Experience of working in a geotechnical or construction materials laboratory and performing tests.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience of working overseas, particularly in the Middle East, will be an advantage
  • Problem-solving/judgment: ability to work unsupervised and observe, think critically and to solve problems using data-analysis, interpretation, and reasoning skills.
  • Teamwork: dedication and ability to work successfully with others in a team.
  • Information & Communication: ability to receive information from, and convey information to others, in a timely and clear manner, using appropriate language, and communication tools.
  • Client focus: ability to generate client satisfaction (internally and externally), potentially resulting in long term client relationships and additional business.
  • Planning & organizing: able to set priorities and determine actions, time and resources (tools, software, people, and budget as appropriate.) to achieve pre-defined goals. Monitor and manage timely delivery, leading to reliability and client satisfaction.
