SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Department Manager, the Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises, and controls activities related to his/her assignments. The Supervisor is responsible for producing quality analyses in sufficient quantity to satisfy and exceed customer expectations, for maintaining a good working environment in his/her group to meet employee satisfaction in terms of safety, training, recognition, and empowerment, and for continuously improving productivity. The Supervisor works in close relationship with the other supervisors and his/her manager to pursue the organization’s strategic objectives and makes recommendations to his/her manager with respect to long-term improvements of operations and all related policies and process effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities related to Operational Activities and Quality

  • Ensure that equipment and manpower are used productively and appropriately and that they meet production objectives and client demands;
  • Ensure that all processes are performed according to the methods detailed in the standard operating procedures;
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the results generated and that client deadlines are respected;
  • Provide the necessary reports and data summarizing the group’s performance to the department manager;
  • Involve employees in the problem solving process in order to promote continuous improvement of operations;
  • Hold regular meetings with the members of his/her group to promote cooperation and a team effort.

Responsibilities related to Client Satisfaction

It is essential that the assignments for which the Supervisor is responsible for be performed in the most accurate and timely manner, since the generation of the clients’ results are depended upon the operations of their department. To contribute to the quality service offered to the clients, the Supervisor must:

  • Ensure the processing of results satisfy client deadlines and strive to exceed the demands of the client;
  • Participate in the evaluation of the activities related to the operation of his/her department, identify weaknesses in the process, and make recommendations to his/her manager in order to improve the effectiveness of the process and better meet clients’ needs;
  • Ensure that results are transmitted promptly to the client.

Responsibilities related to Human Resources Management

In order to promote the organizational values, to maintain a satisfactory and stimulating working environment, and to ensure a competent and highly effective staff within his/her group, the Supervisor must:

  • Train and integrate new analysts to the activities and quality standards related to the organization;
  • Monitor performance and ensure that his/her employee(s) get a periodic evaluation of their work;
  • Encourage teamwork and cooperation among his/her employees.

Responsibilities related to Security and Accident Prevention

An important aspect of the Supervisor’s responsibilities entails the participation in the implementation and maintenance of a safe working environment for the analysts and that employees are safety conscious in their actions. To this effect, the Supervisor must:

  • Ensure that the employees are aware of the organization’s health and safety policies and act accordingly to prevent accidents;
  • Ensure, during coordination meetings, that safety is made a priority and clearly understood and respected by all employees;
  • Apply rules regarding health, safety and security at work.

Responsibilities related to Process and Procedure Improvement

For the organization to provide the timely delivery of accurate results the Supervisor must participate in the supervision and improvement of an efficient and productive operational department that would better meet the changing needs of the industry. To this effect, the Supervisor must:

  • Develop procedures and processes in order to improve the effectiveness and quality of the work generated in order to better meet clients’ needs;
  • Participate in the upgrading and implementation of procedures and programs in order to improve overall efficiency, quality, and timely delivery of results to better meet client’s needs.
