The student lab tech is expected to ensure quality standards are met and strive for continuous improvement to meet Company and regulatory standards. This role requires daily testing, participation in HACCP & SQF verification activities, record keeping, sanitization, and inspection procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be enrolled in post-secondary education in Science, Agriculture, Laboratory Tech, or related field;
  • Ability to follow precise procedures, excellent hand eye coordination, self-motivated;
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work as a part of a team;
  • A strong commitment to occupational health and safety standards and procedures;
  • Previous lab experience is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practice is considered an asset;
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts. Anticipated shift includes days and every third weekend.

Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly testing all samples from production within required timelines
  • Carefully and accurately interpreting and recording data and test results;
  • Completing a thorough weekly environmental analysis, taking samples throughout the plant to ensure all sanitation standards are being met;
  • Accurately calibrating lab equipment, closely following calibration procedures;
  • Sanitation duties
  • Administrative duties
  • All other duties as assigned.
