AGAT Laboratories is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician A - GC & ICP Analyst to join our Forensics team working out of our Calgary location. The successful candidate will be able to work independently on laboratory activities with responsibility for maintaining instruments and equipment used in the lab. It is expected that this position is able to work independently, with direction from the Laboratory Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education with a technical diploma or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
  • 2+ years laboratory experience with GC-MS, GC-MSMS and ICP-MSMS required
  • Experience using Triple Quad Mass Spec (QQQ-MS) would be an asset
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written
  • Able to operate, troubleshoot and maintain analytical instruments
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Knowledge of full laboratory processes
  • Ability to work in a positive manner in a fast paced environment

Responsibilities:

  • Perform sample, reagent and calibration preparation as directed
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and conduct routine maintenance on all assigned instruments
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records
  • Meet quality assurance and turnaround specifications
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Report results
  • Other duties as assigned
