POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Lab Manager / Operations Manager, the Lab Technician will perform lab analysis on petroleum samples; compile results quickly and reporting the results in a timely manner; responsible for sample management and process flow; responsible for relaying sample requirements for proper sample preparation for inspection and lab analysis; responsible for maintaining and adhering to Standard Operating Procedures, that equipment is in good working order and that operating supplies are continuously available so that testing results can be quickly provided back to the service user.

Responsibilities:

AS A LAB TECHNICIAN, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:

Conduct analysis of petroleum samples, compiling results and being responsible for following the standard operating procedures and controls
Preparation of samples for inspection, and perform other required lab analysis such as SQC and proficiency program samples
Coordinate sample management and process flow, as well as reporting analytical results in a timely and accurate manner
Maintain awareness of outstanding technical issues related to the laboratory as well as trouble shoot and calibrate lab instruments.
Maintain the laboratory and equipment in functioning condition and perform preventative maintenance for all equipment and documentation as per ISO requirements
In compliance with the lab quality standards, efficiently maintain the work area and equipment to ensure that a clean contamination-free environment is created
Following testing protocols in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
Maintaining and monitoring consumables inventory and assist the manager with ordering supplies when required.
Comply with professional practice and policy statement as per ISO requirements
Comply with all occupational safety regulations, laboratory safety procedures, and requirements of ISO
Other duties as assigned or required from time to time
