REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION AND YRS EXP
Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science degree with a major in the Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, or Geology, and 1 year of experience, or the equivalent.
Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
- Ability to work alone or in teams outside under adverse conditions.
- Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking and sound judgment.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Willingness to work with/be exposed to hazardous materials such chemicals.
- Knowledge of computers and software applications.
- Knowledge of standard computer software packages for data analysis and graphical presentations (R preferred), and on-line literature search engines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience conducting research outside in the field.
- Experience working in a laboratory beyond lab sections of college classes.
- Experience working with chemistry protocols for environmental analyses (includes preparing reagents, pipetting, filtering, etc.).
- Previous experience working with soils not necessary but preferred.
Responsibilities:
To collect, process, and analyze soil, plant, water, and air samples, to set up and maintain laboratory and field experiments in support of research directed at understanding the vulnerability of soil organic carbon to global change.
