Position Summary:
The Multimodal Imaging and Connectome Analysis at the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University is looking to hire a laboratory technician. This position will provide support for clinical and basic neuroscience research. The lab uses behavioral and brain imaging research techniques to study brain organization in health and disease.
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology. Prepares materials and equipment. Compiles data. Demonstrates techniques. Maintains equipment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology in fields such as neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science.
  • Prepares and sets up materials and equipment. Performs a variety of assays, analyses and tests such as behavioral tasks and participants recruitment.
  • Records results, performs calculations and compiles data. Maintains records and files.
  • Maintains inventory. Purchases equipment and materials. Reimburse participants.
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge
  • Uses a variety of equipment such as electrophysiological recording apparatus, computers and audio-visual equipment.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Proficiency in English and French (written and spoken) required.
Experience in a neuroscience, neuroimaging, or similar laboratory environment is preferred; undergraduate degree in a related field is an asset. General computer skills and ability to quickly learn computer programs (but not coding). Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work well with trainees, colleagues, collaborators, and research participants. Sensitivity to cultural and linguistic differences of lab members, collaborators and participants. Commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.

Hourly Salary:
(MUNACA Level F) $29.42 - $36.46
