Description:

Canada Building Materials (CBM), formed in 1930, is the building materials division of St. Marys Cement Inc., with ready-mix and aggregate operations across Ontario and Quebec. CBM is a subsidiary of Votorantim Cimentos.
CBM is comprised of two divisions - CBM Ready-Mix, delivering high-quality ready-mix concrete to a variety of customers, and CBM Aggregates who produces sand, gravel, and stone to an ever-growing market.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

As a Technical Services Laboratory Technician you will conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests of solid materials and liquids, and analyzes test data by performing the duties listed below.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering is preferred. Excellent communications skills. Fundamental knowledge of computer software (Windows, Word, Excel). Valid Driver’s License.
  • CCIL / CSA certifications for testing concrete / aggregate would be an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up laboratory equipment and instrumentation required to perform tests, investigations, research and/or process control
  • Tests and analyzes products such as concrete, aggregate and cement for plastic and hardened requirements
  • Documents results of tests and analyses
  • Prepares chemical solutions for use in processing materials, following standardized formulas or experimental procedures
  • Conducts maintenance for the laboratory facility
  • Plans for efficient use of materials and equipment
  • Performs statistical analyses and reports on cement and concrete performance to identify raw material quality
  • Completes, maintains and processes pertinent paperwork and records
