Responsibilities:

The Laboratory Technician is an exciting opportunity based at our Muja Power Station site, located in the Southwest of Collie. The objective of the role is to take responsibility for assigned areas of station chemistry activities and to play a key role in the investigation of technical problems.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Participate in planning and execution of scientific projects, upgrades and trials related to process chemistry and draft and review laboratory quality system documentation, written instructions, methods and processes.
  • For the areas of assigned responsibility:
  • Carry out routine tasks to required standard on a timely manner, and with minimum supervision
  • Plan, co-ordinate, schedule and carry out sampling and chemical, physical and microbiological analysis of samples as required and according to written instructions
  • Record data appropriately; monitor and trend data and test results; assess data accuracy and significance; apply guidance values, limits and targets to results and report any problems
  • Take effective corrective and/or preventative action to maintain systems within limits as applicable according to standard written instructions; for more complex situations request guidance from Chemists or Supervisor as necessary
  • Maintain, operate and calibrate on-line and laboratory instrumentation and related equipment according to written instructions and monitor chemical tank levels and organise refills as required
