Laboratory Technician within protein chemistry

The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as a Laboratory Technician within protein chemistry as per 1 July 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a permanent full-time position.

The Department of Biomedicine focuses on innovation, entrepreneurship and collaboration with business and industry, and numerous researchers from the department have established companies to develop new medicinal treatments founded in professional scientific basic research.

As Laboratory Technician, your primary tasks are sample preparation, experimental set-up and lab management related to organization, ordering and routine equipment maintenance. You contribute to the academic environment through teaching of techniques to junior and senior lab members and analysis of results. In your daily work, you have a close interaction with competent colleagues.

Your main tasks will consist of:

• Protein sample preparation for protein mass spectrometry based proteomics, including but not limited to: extraction and lysis of proteins from different types of samples including tissue, urine and cultured cell lines
• Protein and peptide quantification using commercial assays
• Chemical labeling such as tandem mass tag (TMT) labeling, and sample cleanup
• Sample preparation and analysis of samples by western blotting
• Protein purification using batch and column based methods
• Routine maintenance of HPLC and mass spectrometry equipment (after training)
• Lab maintenance, including ordering of reagents, updating protocols etc.
