SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Director, Labour Relations and Dispute Resolution, the Labour Relations Advisor provides advice, guidance, and strategic support to the Service at all organizational levels on a variety of matters related to member and labour relations, including negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, collective agreement interpretation, application and compliance, while proactively building toward a healthy labour relations environment. Serves as a strategic member of the Labour Relations and Dispute resolution, and provides input and coordination in the development and implementation of strategies, consults on policies, procedures and collaborates across units on a range labour and member relations issues. The Labour Relations Advisor provides assistance and support to the Director of Labour Relations and Dispute Resolution, and the Board both in preparation for and during the Collective Bargaining process. The Labour Relations Advisor cultivates positive working relationships with the Associations through an effective facilitation and consultative approach while and ensuring the preservation of the Service’s management rights. Works as part of the Labour Relations and Dispute Resolution team and the Office of the Chief of Police to support the mission, vision and values of the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
