Description:
We are looking for highly skilled and experienced midwife to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will need to be able to provide outstanding, personalised and compassionate care to women and their babies, and at the same time foster an exceptional learning environment for midwives and medical staff.
You will have a sound clinical knowledge base and a passion for midwifery and physiological birth. We are looking for someone who understands the role of managing a team of passionate midwives and maternity support workers and appreciates the demands of the wider maternity service. You will be responsible for the development and management of the individuals within the team, ensuring high standards of midwifery and obstetric-led care to meet the requirements of women, birthing people and their families at all times. You should have labour ward coordinator experience, able to work on your own initiative and be able to contribute to the wider multidisciplinary team.

- Professional accountability for the effective delivery of labour, birth and postnatal care
- Provide managerial and clinical guidance .
- Provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence, acting as a professional role model by providing leadership and support within the multidisciplinary and midwifery teams.
- Support, assist and advise women and their families’ . Ensure there is an emphasis on safety for all women with a continued promotion of excellence in care, early labour, intrapartum and postpartum care.

We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
