Lactation Consultant - Breastfeeding Clinic - Regular Part Time

Summary of Duties:

The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing a supportive and nurturing environment for antenatal and postpartum women. The main functions of the Lactation Consultant include, but are not limited to: identifying and consulting on basic and complex breastfeeding problems and developing appropriate breastfeeding plans. In addition, the Lactation Consultant will be required to:

• Teach breastfeeding classes to both groups and one on one
• Provide breastfeeding aides correctly
• Collaborate with other disciplines to plan care
• Act as a referral resource for both antenatal and breastfeeding women
• Attend quarterly Breastfeeding Clinic Meetings
• Participate in scheduled Journal Club Meetings
• Participate in extra Breastfeeding Clinic projects

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• IBCLC certificate is mandatory
• Recent related experience ideally in an outpatient breastfeeding clinic is mandatory
• Demonstrated evidence of self-directed practice
• Demonstrated good clinical judgement and problem solving skills
• Experienced with High Risk Neonates required
• CPR certification is required
