Description:

Microsoft’s Datacenter Development Land Development Organization supports the development and delivery of our data center portfolio from site identification and selection through to design, construction and operation. The Microsoft data center development portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year data center construction and lease projects.
Microsoft is seeking a Land Development Data Analyst to evaluate and assess a broad spectrum of data sets, encompassing permitting timelines, statutory deadlines, regulatory impacts, as well as geographic, zoning, planning, economic, and environmental factors. This role is pivotal in delivering insights that will inform strategic decisions for land acquisition and development, playing a crucial role in the expansion of Microsoft’s worldwide data center infrastructure. The analyst will supply essential data insights and visual representations to support teams across the organization, facilitating strategic choices that enhance site selection and project viability, and driving the strategic growth of our data center initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Data Science, or related field, with a focus on land development preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques, with the ability to manage and interpret large, complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with diverse, cross-functional teams across Microsoft’s global operations.
  • An understanding of land development processes, zoning regulations, environmental considerations, and the unique challenges of real estate development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and high standards for quality of deliverables
  • Proficiency in English

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting and delivering permitting approvals for large scale and/or complex data center projects
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in data analysis within the land development sector, with prior experience in data center development or global projects highly desirable.
