Description:
The successful candidates have the opportunity to extend their experience in cardio-thoracic surgery, with the possibility to develop a sub-specialty interest in thoracic, mitral or aortic surgery. They will be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, be involved in operating sessions, wards, ITU, OPD, MDT and research projects. The candidate will take part to the resident on-call rota for cardio-thoracic. The appointee will spend 12 months at the Trust in order to undertake Cardiothoracic Surgery and research work.
There is flexibility in this arrangement in order meet the educational requirements of the Fellow. The Fellow will also participate in outpatient clinics and thoracic MDTs where she/he will have the opportunity to engage with the multi-disciplinary teams of different hospitals. They will be expected to work alongside the Cardiothoracic on-call team in order to develop knowledge and skills in managing perioperative patients and to lead ward rounds after settling with the team
