    One of Australia’s leading boutique law firms is in growth mode and are looking to take on a quality commercial disputes lawyer to focus on building and construction matters.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

They are seeking Lawyer/Associate to join the high performing commercial disputes team who serve a range of clients including large corporations, SMEs, high net worth individuals, local councils and government. The role will see you focus on building and construction disputes.
This position offers the right candidate a fantastic career development opportunity with direct mentoring from the Partners in the team. You will work with a dynamic and high performing team and be exposed to a variety of building and construction matters.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Drafting tender and procurement documents
  • Providing guidance on making claims against various entities in the construction process.
  • Assisting in resolving disputes efficiently through negotiation and alternative methods
  • Drafting and negotiating construction contracts

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years post admission experience working on a range of commercial disputes, including construction disputes. Strong knowledge of tribunal/court practices, knowledge of SOPA legislations and experience with adjudications is also beneficial.

In addition, you will have:

  • Experience with defects disputes
  • Experience working with building experts;
  • Superior analytical, negotiation and drafting skills;
  • Strong client relationship skills;
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively;
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills;
  • Strong attention to detail.
