THE OPPORTUNITY:
Batch Mewing Lawyers is now seeking a Lawyer or Associate with 2+ years of post-qualification experience to be a part of the employment and safety practice. This role is offered to those who wish to accelerate their career with exposure to exciting work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to steer their own matters, with assistance from experienced employment and safety lawyers.
As an Associate, you will be responsible for managing legal matters independently, with support from the partner, and collaborating with a proficient team.
Responsibilities:
- There will be an even split between disputes and advice. Around 80% of the work will be employment/IR and 20% safety (with the opportunity to perform more safety work if desired).
- Engage directly with clients and deliver regular webinars and on-site training sessions.
- Provide comprehensive advice on a full range of employment disputes, including general protections, unfair dismissal, discrimination, and sexual harassment.
- Offer strategic guidance on managing challenging employees and navigating dismissals.
- Provide support to respond to industrial action and provide legal counsel on matters related to restraint of trade and breach of confidentiality/fiduciary duties.
- Advice on Interpreting and providing awards.
- Advice on conducting workplace investigations.
- Advice on enterprise agreement approvals and disputes, as well as union disputes and underpayment claims.
- Provide legal counsel on WHS investigations, including defending WHS prosecutions.
