Job Description
This role as lead specialty ACP for Urgent care will form part of the senior leadership team, where they will provide expert advice, clinical expertise, clinical leadership and support all medical, nursing and allied health professional teams. Working across both the QAH and Gosport War Memorial Hospital sites.
The post holder will be responsible for advanced practice service development, guidance and motivation as well as have operational oversight of the existing ENP and ACP workforce within Urgent Care.
The post holder will support and play a key role in the organisations strategic development of advanced level practice at both a local, divisional level and across partnership organisations. As well as developing the existing advanced practice team the post holder will work alongside the department’s senior leadership team to support and develop the entire Multiprofessional team to meet both the unit and divisional service vision.
The post holder will practice as a senior non-medical clinician within Urgent care – ECC/UTC. They will work across the ECC and UTC practicing independently and autonomously, seeing undifferentiated patients with undiagnosed problems with no supervision. The post holder will deliver a 60% direct clinical component (DCC) to their role and 40% related to their management, leadership, innovation and educational responsibilities (SPA).
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Current professional registration with a relevant professional regulator (e.g., NMC, HCPC, GPhC).
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or academic equivalence through an ePortfolio-supported route to include history taking, physical assessment, diagnostics, clinical reasoning, and research.
  • Completion of a recognised clinical capability framework or portfolio.
  • Independent Prescriber.
  • Red Dot or equivalent course in essential radiology.
  • IR(ME)R Certification.
  • ALS Provider

Experience

  • Significant post-registration experience / consolidation as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
  • Significant post-registration specialty experience in Urgent Care as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner.
  • Experience of working within a UTC / ECC environment
  • Experienced in scope of practice development, workforce transformation, including budget management, training needs analysis development, and funding pathways for Advanced Level Practice.
  • Evidence of good leadership skills.
  • Team player.
  • Lead change within a service or organisation.
  • Undertaken a quality improvement.
  • Service improvement/Quality Improvement projects.
  • Evidence of supporting others’ development.
  • Published.
  • Experience of regional or national networking.

Skills

  • Competent clinical assessment skills in the face of undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations.
  • Competent to perform a range of relevant clinical skills across Urgent Care, e.g., X-ray interpretation including chest and facial views, fracture / dislocation reduction, complex suturing,

Knowledge

  • A firm understanding of Advanced Level Practice within the national scope of the Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice and the Advanced Clinical Practice in Urgent Care Curriculum Framework.
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary team working.
  • Confidence in advanced level practice development, others’ development, and approach to practice.
  • Interest in clinical research.
  • Competence in understanding and interpreting clinical diagnostics relevant to the role.
