Responsibilities:
Support the Motors research team in the evolution of new and existing products, specifically taking a leading role in the areas of experimental aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, and thermal management. The Lead Aerodynamics Research Engineer will be expected to take proactive approach in identifying and evaluating new motor technology opportunities across a wide spectrum of areas including turbo machinery aerodynamics, together with developing new tools, and methods with the aim of enhancing the performance, reliability and time to market of Dyson products.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop new designs in the discipline of turbo machinery and aerodynamics and investigate potential new enabling technology utilising a variety of experimental and numerical thermos-fluid analysis / simulation platforms.
- Design and optimise both the preliminary and the detailed stages of new motor aerodynamic systems with particular focus on system integration opportunities.
- Develop and champion accurate, in depth, experimental techniques both within the research team and the wider Motors group.
- Analyse test results, summarise findings and communicate to other members of RDD including senior managers and directors.
- Liaise with development teams to ensure effective transfer of technology into future product range.
- Mentoring of design engineers in best practice in the area of fluid dynamics, particularly compressor and turbine design along with fluid flow in our extensive range of floor care and new products.
